LBR 21: Step Brothers

Step Brothers is a movie so stupid it is funny. Although it’s not one of the more sterling exemplars of the Apatow portfolio, it did rather well at the box office. But it may actually be a social commentary about the American retardation of the maturation process. A reply to a comment has violated Community Guidelines. Rather than fight it, I’m migrating to a platform that respects freedom of expression. Visit my Odysee channel here.

LBR 20: Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby

Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby is the first of 3 DVDs from the latest Will Ferrell 3-Movie Collection that I reviewed – and the second movie where Will Ferrell, Judd Apatow and Adam McKay join forces. The price may be right, but does the movie make the grade? Find out in this Low Budget Review.

LBR 19: Walk Hard The Dewey Cox Story

Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story is a parody of biopics that relies heavily on Walk the Line and Ray, but it also gives Judd Apatow and Jake Kasdan to parody as many music genres as they can. But does watching this largely forgotten 2007 movie justify buying a DVD? Find out in this Low Budget Review.

LBR 18: The Bourne Identity

I purchased The Universal 100th Anniversary Collection at CVS for $4.99. And when I opened it, I was surprised to see not one, not two, but three DVDs, each of which could have justified the full cost. This week, I reviewed The Bourne Identity; needless to say, I was not disappointed.

LBR 16: Falling Down

For this Low Budget Review, I reviewed the Falling Down Deluxe Edition DVD – a movie so good that I’m willing to forgive the late director Joel Schumacher’s Batman and Robin debacle. Indulge in this deep dive into this classic movie in this Low Budget Review.

LBR 15: Tobruk

Tobruk, a 1967 World War 2 movie starring Rock Hudson, George Peppard and Nigel Green, is a movie that I recall from my youth, when it would be aired on independent TV stations. But does the nostalgia factor justify the DVD purchase? Find out in this week’s Low Budget Review.

LBR 14: Get Hard

I had high hopes for this movie, the third movie I chose to screen in the Will Ferrell 3 film collection. Unfortunately, it was not very good and left me with a negative opinion of the entire collection. Find out what was wrong with this film in this Low Budget Review.

LBR 13: Frankie and Johnny

Frankie and Johnny is a 1991 romantic comedy-drama, and was somewhat of a box office disappointment (especially given the directorial track record of the late Garry Marshall), though it was a critical success. It reunites Michelle Pfeiffer and Al Pacino for the first time since Scarface (1983). But was the DVD a rational buy? Find out in this week’s Low Budget Review.
